BT Yahoo uses Google for search

So whats all this then? Google is used for search on BT Yahoo‘s Broadband portal.

The co-branded BT Yahoo service was initially launched in Sept 2003 and provided a wide-range of Y! services to BT Broadband users, including search.

So whats the story ?

Bing recently joined forces with Yahoo and must have thought they will make moves on the brand that is “Google”.

I work for BT directories and from what I believe is the deal was stuck as Google helps with more accurate results thus improving the overall service for it’s clients from the BT Yahoo Broadband portal. The deal makes good sense to BT, the leading broadband provider in the UK with 35% market share of the market.

Everyone is a winner from the tie-up as Yahoo keep a contract with BT; Google must be very pleased with this deal and have scored big with this tie up. BT broadband are happy as they get what they wanted and Google must be extatic to get involved with one of the largest portals from an ISP (internet service provider) in the UK and rub Yahoo/Bing  right up the wrong way.
