Ranking High in Google

Ranking highly in Google SERPs is very important for any website and online business because of the amount of free traffic it will drive to your site. There are many steps you can take to improve the ranking of your website or pages in the eyes of Google and other search engines. If you are not already using the techniques listed below you should be and once implemented you are sure to improve your Google rankings.

1. Provide fresh, useful content. Google and all search engines for that matter are looking for fresh, new and helpful content for web surfers and you are far more likely to rank well if you continually add new useful content to your site.

2. On page SEO is critical to getting good rankings in the SERPs. A well SEO’d web page will almost always out rank a page that is not properly SEO’d. There are simple SEO techniques you can and should use on every page you build.

Target one keyword or phrase per page. Try to have a keyword density of between 2% and 3%. Use the same keyword in your meta, title and headline tags. You should include your keyword in at least one each of , and tags

3. Build up your pages keyword relevance in the search engines eyes by building links to your pages using you keyword as your anchor text. Articles are a great way to do this. Most of the better article directories will allow you to have 2 links back to your website. Use one link pointing to your main page and one link pointing to an inner page on your site. Deep linking is a very under used technique that can get great results.

4. Start a blog and use the same SEO techniques discussed above to ensure a good search engine ranking. Each blog post should target one specific keyword make good use of H1, H2 and H3 tags. Submit your blog post’s to sites like Digg etc. these will serve as “bait” for the search engines.

5. Use videos on your pages. Google, if you haven’t heard, owns YouTube and they tend to rank pages with videos embedded from YouTube higher than those without video. Videos are not hard to produce these days and can be a great marketing tool that produces incredible results.

6. Avoid reciprocal links whenever possible. Giving away page rank is just not a good idea. Use Squidoo and Hubpages and get one-way links instead.

These are just a few techniques you can use to improve your rankings in the SERPs. They are easy to do and sure to get good results.
