So Google comes clean after years of SEO‘rs realise that the Meta keywords tag is just a pointless tag and does not assist in rankings in the Google SERP’s. Why has it taken so long to admit it?

Are Google like this with most updates?

Google say they are transparent with its users. I think not.

They never keep us up to date with how they rank a page. Take the update on no-follow, it was not looked at the same by Google for over a year before Matt Cutts admitted it.

Why not?

Its quite simple really, they always want to stay ahead of webmasters and SEO companies. Why I do not understand. If we want to follow the rules correctly we should be rewarded for it you would imagine that they would be happy too. Sites built the way they want !

Anyone with a slight knowledge of Google knows that the tag has been abused for so long, it was just not worth using as an SEO technique. It is just a pointless exercise and your time can be used far more wisely to get the most from a site online.

Is the Meta keywords tag is still used by other engines ?

I would most definitely say yes but again don’t spend all your time and energy waisting time with this there are far better things to work on that will help you generate additional traffic via SERP rankings.

Be scared be very scared for your freedom. I just came over this on YouTube and it’s quite frightening. Especially living in the UK where CCTV is a chronic overuse of the nanny state.

Now I am no thief or crook but giving this ability to Google or even governments is just “One step too far Sidney”. I know the UK is probably the most watched race on the planet via CCTV and I see no real benefit from it in terms of safety or security of the public (too many hoodies with their hood up).

Over 200 CCTV cameras, video the average user going from home to work each day. That is just too much and this tech is going to make privacy something of the past if someone really wants to track someone.

All of the iPhone lovers like me this is a video is a must watch. I cant wait for this to be launched. It will be a real time saver and make my phone look a little different to all thouse standard iPhones around me.

How many times have you wanted to add more quality content to your posts?

Well I may have discovered the answer with Apture. It allows you to embed quality content to your blog posts and articles with interactive videos, images, Wikipedia, maps and more from 50+ sources without making readers leave the page.

I have only just descovered this afntastic plugin but in my eyes it seems to work so well to share additional documentation on your site I will most definatly be using this in the future of all my posts.

One option I love is the ability to add the links without having to be logged into my blog. All you need to do is login via Apture then just highlight any part of your text on any page and embed away. It saves so much time trying to find associated videos, photos, articles and the like.

This is one of the funniest things I have seen in ages. Fair play to the editor who did this. Apple rocks, or is that just been drummed into my head?

I decided to add this to my blog as many people do not think about page load speed on their sites and sites they build. Yslow is a FireFox plug-in that explains what issues you may have on any web-page that you have.

As most sites now are written in php I thought you all may find this useful.

This is something I see all the time when looking at assisting businesses with their coverage on the search engines.

It just astounds me how many sites are not hosted in the country they are looking to target. In the UK many website domains and hosting are bought for the cheapest possible cost, unfortunatly many of these so called “cheap hosting” companies are not based in the UK. A prime example is 1and1, their servers are based in Germany, sirtainly not where many UK business are are not tageting.

Conclusion

When purchasing hosting space, find out where the server is based. This one of many small but important factors that Google and other search engines consider when ranking a site.

I have had a iphone 3G for the last 11 months and I am ready for a change, this just looks the nuts. I got to get one of these. I will have to make sure my spending money points in this direction. It retails for £399.95 unlocked and on pay as you go. Roll on payday !!!!!
